S E Brandon Consulting offers Culture Change coaching, consulting and training services for Assisted Living Facilities what is culture change(ALF), Adult Family Care Homes (AFCH), and Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF). These consulting services assist facilities in preparing for initial, annual and bi-annual surveys, as well as post-survey requirements (i.e. plans of correction and additional training) . Licensure and certification consulting services are also available for skilled nursing facilities as well as consulting and training services for start-up facilities. Culture Change coaching has an emphasis on the residents’ quality of life, and helps in the transformation from a facility’s traditional medical model, into a social model.

S E Brandon Consulting provides training and consulting services to ALF and AFCH providers, such as assisting with the development of required policies and procedures Agency for Health Care Administration (ACHA) plans of correction and providing mock surveys in order to prepare for state survey as well as serving as a facility’s internal quality assurance mechanism. Training includes the required state mandated contact hours and training to improve the quality of care, life and work in adult family care, assisted living and skilled nursing homes.

All training and educational activities are planned, coordinated, and conducted by Sharon Brandon, Assisted Living Program Consultant and Trainer and Certified Eden Alternative Associate. Mrs. Brandon has more than 17 years of experience as a Federally Certified State Surveyor with ACHA before becoming an Assisted Living Program Consultant and Trainer with the Florida Department of Elder Affairs. Sharon is also certified by Florida State University as an Alzheimer’s Trainer for skilled nursing facilities in the state of Florida. Mrs. Brandon received her teaching degree and credentials from Hofstra University, New York. Her Risk Management Certification through the University of South Florida is pending. In February 2004, her confirmation in the Manchester’s Who’s Who Registry Among Professional and Executive Women has finalized for the 2004/2005 Honors Edition.

Florida Statute Chapter 429, states”…training and education is intended to assist facilities to appropriately respond to the needs of residents, to maintain resident care and facility standards and to meet licensure requirements”. Furthermore, Florida Administrative Code, 58A-5 adds”…certificates of any training…shall be documented in the facility’s personnel files…shall include the subject matter of the training program, the trainee’s name, the date of attendance, the training provider’s name, signature and CREDENTIALS, ….”. Whether you participate in my training or others, as a consumer, you should inquire about the CREDENTIALS and QUALIFICATIONS of the trainer who provides your training. How else can you be assured that their curriculum meets the intent of the law, rule and regulations?
